Did you ever find yourself looking at the old photographs in an antique store and thinking, “oh how sad, I bet that’s someone’s grandmother” before promptly returning that photo to an already overflowing and disorganized bin? I mean, come on, I’m not going to pay money to buy another person’s ancestor’s photograph…that’s just silly. Am I right?
Absolutely. You are 100% right. Too bad that I’m one of the weirdos who does find those photographs and attempt to track the descendants down to reunite them with their families. Why? Because these were our family, not merely because they share some DNA and maybe an odd family nose shape with us. They had hopes and dreams and fears and although long dead and only documented as the brief vital record dates we have in our family trees, holding a photograph is just so special.
So look out friends, if I find an old photograph, I may very well be contacting you to mail it from my house to yours and maybe sharing some of the story along the way.
